After previously announcing the introduction of five new features, Twitter now unveils two significant updates. Expanding on the enhancements made to its messaging service in November, Twitter has introduced Group Messaging, allowing users to chat with multiple people simultaneously, and a mobile video recording feature, enhancing its multimedia capabilities.
Group Messaging
In response to the success Facebook has achieved with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, Twitter has added a group messaging feature to its platform. Previously, Twitter allowed users to share tweets via Direct Messages. Now, this new feature enables users to engage in private conversations with multiple people at once. Twitter emphasized that private conversations complement its role as a media platform and described this update as a step in that direction.
Mobile Video Support
After introducing Vine and later supporting GIFs, Twitter now embraces video content. The platform allows users to record, edit, and share videos directly from its mobile app. Although this move might seem overdue, it marks an essential step forward for Twitter.
The company announced that users can upload videos up to 30 seconds long and added that iPhone users can upload pre-recorded videos, expanding the feature’s versatility.
These updates signify Twitter’s ongoing effort to stay competitive and relevant in the fast-paced world of social media.
