According to the “Information Technologies Usage in Enterprises” report for 2013 by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 95.3% of entrepreneurs use social networks. Social networks are followed by blogs and microblogs at 39.3%, multimedia sharing sites at 35.9%, and wiki-based information-sharing platforms at 11.4%. The primary purpose of social media usage is promotion, creating an image, and product marketing activities, accounting for 77.5%.
Other examples and rates of social media usage identified in the study are as follows:
- Receiving/responding to customer feedback, suggestions, and complaints (57.3%)
- Exchanging ideas and sharing information between enterprises (38.5%)
- Involving customers in product development/innovation processes (36.9%)
- Recruiting and hiring staff (28.9%)
- Collaborating with business partners and other organizations (24.8%)
