Social networks are now at the heart of our lives, becoming an integral part of even the smallest tasks. With the increasing amount of time spent on these platforms in recent years, many experts have started raising concerns about their potential negative impacts on users.
While it’s evident that we spend considerable time on social networks, determining the exact amount has always been a challenge. Facebook and Instagram are now addressing this with a new feature designed to provide insight into your activity.
Facebook consistently strives to ensure its users have positive experiences on the platform. Beyond entertainment, the company takes its social responsibilities seriously by collaborating with schools, educators, administrators, and students to create curricula that focus on social and emotional development.
This new time management tool aims to not only track the time users spend on Facebook and Instagram but also shed light on how that time is spent and its impact on users. Facebook officials describe this initiative as “an important first step toward fostering safe, kind, and supportive communities for everyone.”
How to Activate the Time Management Feature:
- Open the settings page on either app.
- On Instagram, tap “Your Activity”.
- On Facebook, tap “Your Time on Facebook”.
- At the top, you’ll see a dashboard showing your average daily time spent on that app for the current device.
- Tap any bar to view your total time for a specific day.
- Below the dashboard, set a daily reminder for the time you’d like to spend on the app. Once you hit your limit, you’ll receive a notification. You can adjust or cancel the reminder anytime.
This feature is not live yet but is expected to roll out very soon. It’s a step forward in helping users manage their time more effectively and promoting healthier online habits.
