The “Stories” feature, first introduced by Snapchat, continues to rapidly expand across social media platforms. The competition between Facebook and Snapchat has intensified as Facebook has now activated the “Stories” feature on its main platform, following its earlier implementation on Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
You can now share updates in real time through the “Stories” section located at the top of your Facebook homepage. Unlike other platforms, Facebook has added new features to its camera for this rollout.
The masks, frames, and animated filters originally popularized by Snapchat are now available on Facebook Stories. Featuring content that disappears after 24 hours, the Stories section has been tested in several countries and is now available to all users. Additionally, Facebook has introduced the “Direct” feature, allowing you to send your videos or photos directly to selected friends. These direct messages will also disappear after 24 hours.
With the rise of mobile technology and increasing usage of digital platforms, Facebook, boasting 1.86 billion users globally, continues to draw attention with updates to its camera and app functionalities. The standalone Stories section, complete with new effects and direct messaging options, shows Facebook’s efforts to gain an edge in its rivalry with Snapchat.
It will be interesting to see how this competition unfolds in the coming days.
