Last year, Facebook introduced emoji reactions to represent various emotions on posts. Recently, the company announced that a “Dislike” reaction is set to be rolled out soon.
Initially, Facebook only offered a “Like” button for content interaction with no alternatives. However, last year’s addition of emoji reactions allowed users to express a broader range of emotions.
Facebook had refrained from introducing a “Dislike” button for a long time to prevent potential negativity stemming from expressing disapproval. However, as the current emojis became increasingly insufficient, Facebook decided to introduce a “Dislike” reaction for its Messenger platform. The company stated that this new feature is being tested and will be gradually rolled out to users.
The “Dislike” button on Messenger will allow users to express disapproval of specific content or messages. According to Facebook, emoji reactions introduced last year have been used over 300 billion times, with the “Heart” emoji being the most popular.
The new “Dislike” button aims to enable users to express their emotions more effectively within Messenger. Although it is initially being launched on Messenger, it remains unclear whether the feature will be extended to Facebook posts.
