Instagram, which has been integrating numerous new features with Facebook, is now preparing to offer its users a brand-new shopping experience. Over recent years, the number of users establishing their own businesses through Instagram pages has significantly increased. Particularly beneficial for boutique sellers, Instagram is enhancing the shopping experience by introducing a new feature.
Starting next week, Instagram users will be able to gain more detailed information about products featured in Instagram posts. This means users can explore products, evaluate them with additional details, and complete purchases seamlessly if they decide to buy.
With the rise of mobile shopping, social media platforms have increasingly become valuable revenue streams. By launching this shopping feature, Instagram is set to expand its in-app commerce potential, allowing users to shop directly without leaving the app.
How Will the Shopping Feature Work?
- An e-commerce site that is an Instagram user will share a product post.
- Users can tap the “Tap to view” option at the bottom right of the post to see the product name and price.
- When clicking on the product, users will see detailed information and up to five related products added by the brand.
- If followers like a product, they can click the “Shop now” icon to be redirected to the relevant website for purchase.
The goal of this shopping feature is to allow Instagram users to complete their purchases without leaving the app. After exploring the product, details, and price, users will only be redirected to the website for the checkout process, making shopping faster and more seamless.
The shopping feature was recently announced to be in its testing phase and is currently available only to a select group of users in the U.S. It is expected to roll out to all users in the coming months.
