Google continues to test innovations in its search engine capabilities. In the coming days, Google AdWords will introduce a new feature allowing brands and businesses to send messages to consumers directly from search network ads.
Google has been working on search engine advertising for quite some time and is now preparing to launch a messaging optimization feature for its users. The new extension, called “Click to Message”, will allow advertisers to send SMS messages to their customers.
According to Google’s consumer research, two-thirds of smartphone users use messaging apps at least five times a day to communicate with others. Additionally, 65% of users prefer to contact businesses via their phones to inquire about products or services or to make appointments.
Focusing heavily on phone extensions in search network ads, Google is introducing messaging extensions to enhance ad effectiveness and provide users with more convenient experiences. With this new feature, advertisers can now communicate with their customers via SMS.
What Are Google AdWords Messages?
Designed for devices that support text messaging, Google’s new extension will be used in mobile ads. Advertisers who want to utilize the “Send Message” feature must have a phone number capable of receiving and sending SMS.
To use the new extension, advertisers can enable it via the AdWords Ad Extensions tab by adding a few pieces of information. When users perform a search with relevant keywords, a small message icon will appear just below the ad.
By clicking on the icon, users will be directed to their messaging app, pre-filled with a message related to the ad. This message can be customized by the user before sending it to the advertiser.
Benefits of Google AdWords Messaging Feature
The “Send Message” extension offers several advantages:
- Faster Customer Communication: Advertisers can interact with potential customers instantly.
- Improved Ad Effectiveness: Provides users with a direct and personalized way to engage with businesses.
- Increased Customer Engagement: Helps differentiate brands from competitors while expanding potential customer portfolios.
Currently in the testing phase, Google AdWords’ “Send Message” feature enables businesses to establish quicker communication with their audience, giving them a competitive edge and the opportunity to attract more potential customers.
