WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, has officially launched its much-anticipated “Video Calling” feature as of yesterday. Following the activation of its voice calling feature, WhatsApp is now gearing up to compete with other major platforms.
With over 1 billion users worldwide, and now part of Facebook, WhatsApp is set to rival Facebook Messenger, Skype, and FaceTime.
Known for its continuous innovation, WhatsApp has kept the momentum with features like blue ticks, text formatting, and voice calling, and now aims to provide a comprehensive experience by fulfilling user demands on a single platform with video calling.
Now, WhatsApp users can conduct video calls directly from the messaging app, eliminating the need to switch to other platforms.
How to Make a Video Call on WhatsApp?
With the latest update, both iOS and Android users can now make video calls via WhatsApp. Here’s how to use this feature:
- For Android users: Tap the phone icon at the top-right corner of the chat screen, then select “Video Call.”
- For iOS users: You’ll see both phone and camera icons at the top-right corner of the chat screen. To use the video calling feature, tap the camera icon.
Since video calls are made over the internet, the quality of your audio and video will depend on the strength of your internet connection. A strong connection will result in better call quality.
This new feature, now available for all users, is expected to give WhatsApp an edge over its competitors and make it the preferred choice for communication.
