The much-anticipated new features for WhatsApp are finally moving from the testing phase to being rolled out to users.
As the most widely-used messaging app, WhatsApp continues to address its users’ needs by introducing solutions to common issues. One such problem—accidentally sending a message to the wrong group or individual—will now have a solution.
With the upcoming “Message Recall” feature, users will be able to retract messages sent by mistake. However, this feature will only allow the recall of unread messages.
Additional Features
In addition to the Message Recall feature, WhatsApp is also testing “Message Edit” and “Live Location Sharing” features.
- Message Edit: This feature allows users to correct errors in their messages, but like the recall feature, it applies only to unread messages.
- Live Location Sharing: This feature enables users within a group to share their live location, making it easier for group members to find each other.
Privacy and Control
To prevent misuse, the Live Location Sharing feature will be discreet within group chats. Group members can activate the feature if they wish and set a time limit for the location to be visible (1, 2, or 5 minutes) or keep it unlimited.
Rollout Details
While the exact release dates for these features have not yet been confirmed, it has been announced that they will be available to both Android and iOS users. Once the new update is live, users will gain access to these three exciting features.
