Following the introduction of disappearing video and photo messages, Instagram is now making headlines with its latest feature: Collections, reminiscent of Pinterest’s well-known “Boards” feature.
Released earlier this week, Instagram’s Collections feature allows users to organize their saved posts into categories, making it easier to keep track of photos and videos. Whether it’s “Photos,” “Videos,” “Funny Clips,” or “Baby Pictures,” Collections helps users sort and categorize their saved content.
The new feature is accessible within the Saved Posts section of Instagram. By tapping the bookmark icon, you can create and manage your personalized collections.
This update might appeal to Pinterest users, encouraging them to spend more time on Instagram. For brands and advertisers, Collections could become a valuable tool for marketing and shopping campaigns.
What Can You Do With Collections?
- Create custom categories for your saved posts.
- Curate ideal fashion combinations or themed collections.
- Promote and sell curated items.
- Direct followers to shop your curated picks.
Since introducing the post-saving feature in December, Instagram has reported that 46% of users have saved at least one post. Now, with Collections, users can further organize their saved content. To start creating your Collections, simply tap the “+” icon in the Saved Posts section. These Collections are private by default, but you can share them with others if you choose.
The Collections feature is now available on both iOS and Android platforms. To use it, ensure your Instagram app is updated to the latest version.
