Launched initially in the U.S. in December, Instagram’s Live Streaming feature is now available to users worldwide as of yesterday. Following in the footsteps of Periscope and Facebook Live, Instagram now allows users to share live video broadcasts with their followers.
Similar to the video sharing feature in Instagram Stories, the key difference with Live Streaming is the ability to broadcast videos in real-time. Unlike pre-recorded videos shared in the Stories section, live videos disappear shortly after streaming, offering a unique way to engage with your followers.
Instagram has been undergoing rapid transformation and growth over the past year. After successful global testing of the Live Streaming feature, it has officially been rolled out. As a photo-sharing platform, Instagram holds a distinct place among social media networks and continues its competitive race against other platforms. Inspired by the live streaming features of Facebook and Twitter, Instagram now offers its users a fresh and dynamic experience.
How to Use the Live Streaming Feature?
It’s simple to start a live broadcast and share it with your followers:
- Go to the Stories section and select the Live tab at the bottom.
- A notification screen will appear.
- Click on the Start Live Video button to begin your broadcast.
When you go live, your followers will receive a notification informing them that you’ve started a live stream. They can then watch your broadcast, leave comments, and send likes. You can view comments and see likes during your live session.
To watch live streams from others or learn more about live streaming, you can use the Explore section. Unlike Instagram Stories, where photos disappear after a certain time, live streams are limited to a maximum duration of one hour.
Celebrities and Influencers Are Already Using It
Since its launch in Turkey yesterday, many celebrities have started using Instagram’s live feature. Popular figures like Çağla Şikel and Kerimcan Durmaz, along with social media influencers, have tested the new feature.
Instagram’s Competitive Edge
Instagram continues to test and roll out new features to enhance user experience and stay ahead of its competitors. With the recent addition of Live Streaming, Instagram aims to increase its user base. As the platform evolves, users are eager to see what innovations Instagram will introduce next.
