Instagram has finally announced its highly anticipated update. You no longer have to limit your photos to the square format. How?
Until now, all Instagram posts had to be in square format. This meant you had to crop your photos or use third-party apps to adjust them.
With the latest update, this is no longer the case. Instagram now supports both wide (landscape) and tall (portrait) photos and videos. This means you won’t have to go through the hassle of editing your content to fit the platform’s constraints anymore.
When you share a photo, the square option still appears by default, but you can easily switch formats with a single button. This update promises to make video sharing even more impactful, likely leading to an increase in video content on the platform.
To switch between formats, you only need to tap the format change icon. Alongside this update, Instagram has also refreshed its video filters. The new filters make videos appear more cinematic and realistic. Additionally, you can now adjust the intensity of these video filters to suit your preferences.
In a blog post announcing the changes, Instagram stated:
“The square format has always been part of our identity and will continue to be. However, the visual story you want to tell will always come first. We wanted to make it simpler and more enjoyable for you to share your moments exactly as you envision them.”
The update is now available for download on iOS and Android.
