Facebook continues to roll out new features for its users at a rapid pace. Notably, many of these updates draw comparisons to Snapchat, underscoring the ongoing competition between the two platforms.
Facebook’s messaging app, Messenger, has introduced a new feature: group video calls. Expanding on its video call capabilities, Messenger now allows users to make group video calls, enabling more people to connect simultaneously.
In a group of up to 50 participants, Messenger can display the video feed of up to 6 users on the screen at a time, while the rest join as listeners. This feature is ideal for family gatherings, friend groups, or business meetings, allowing everyone to engage in a single video call seamlessly.
Messenger has also integrated Snapchat-style photo and video filters. According to TechCrunch, approximately 245 million users make video calls on Messenger daily. The introduction of group video chat is expected to further enhance user engagement, and its reception will be evaluated in the coming months.
