YouTube has introduced a significant update to its desktop version by bringing a feature previously available on its iOS and Android apps.
Under normal circumstances, vertically shot videos were displayed with black bars on the sides when played in a horizontal format. With this new update, those black bars are no longer necessary. The video player now automatically adapts to the video’s format.
The recent surge in vertical video content has highlighted the need for such an update. YouTube finds itself compelled to innovate, especially in response to competitors like Instagram and IGTV.
As rivals continuously evolve to align with user preferences, YouTube must take steps to remain competitive. It seems YouTube is already considering more features to enhance the vertical video experience and further improve user satisfaction.
