After incorporating Snapchat’s Stories feature into all its platforms, Facebook extended this experience to WhatsApp users as well. Last year, the platform reported 1 billion daily active users, and its recently announced statistics show even greater success.
WhatsApp now boasts 1 billion daily active users utilizing voice and video calls as well as instant messaging. The app’s monthly active user base has reached an impressive 1.3 billion, demonstrating continuous growth in its user community.
WhatsApp users send approximately 4.5 billion photos, 1 billion videos, and a total of 55 billion messages every day on average.
Launched in 2010, WhatsApp revolutionized mobile messaging with its innovative features. Since being acquired by Facebook, the app’s active user count has steadily climbed.
The active user counts for other platforms under Facebook’s umbrella are as follows: Instagram with 700 million, Messenger with 1.2 billion, and Facebook itself with 2 billion. Meanwhile, Snapchat lags behind with 166 million users, as its features have been widely adopted by Facebook and its platforms, impacting Snapchat’s user base.
WhatsApp’s “Status” feature, which mimics Snapchat’s Stories, has also achieved remarkable success, with 250 million daily active users. The platform is showing no signs of slowing down in expanding its presence in the social media landscape.
